Gavin & Patti's top ten tips for a good marriage were good. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a behind the scenes story on their lives, and how to prevent growing apart.

Gavin & Patti's top ten tips for a good marriage were good. The bottom line was finding "Jesus" and how He pulled this marriage back in line.

Gavin MacLeod is to be admired, as he writes about his acting career, his Christian faith, his marriage breakdown with Patty, and his marriage restoration with Patty. His wife Patty also writes some chapters, so it's a gentle and uplifting he said, she said, and gives glory to God. Patty became a Christian after the marriage break-up, and then Gavin became a Christian. I was most impressed by his honesty and pointing out the foibles of pursuing an acting career without God at the center.

MacLeod married his current wife Patti in 1974. Both were previously divorced

Kathie Lee Gifford of the Today Show said, "Gavin epitomizes the old-fashioned concept of a gentleman. He is a loving, generous, and authentic seeker of God’s truth. MacLeod married his current wife Patti in 1974. Both were previously divorced. The couple divorced in the 1980s, but were remarried in 1985

Flag as Inappropriate. In 1987, following MacLeod's conversion and remarriage, he and his wife, Patti, wrote about struggles with divorce and alcoholism in Back On Course: The Remarkable Story of a Divorce That Ended in Remarriage.

Flag as Inappropriate. In 2013, MacLeod released his memoir, "This Is Your Captain Speaking: My Fantastic Voyage Through Hollywood, Faith & Life".

The popular actor and his wife reveal how the pressures of Hollywood life contributed to the failure of their marriage, and how a secure foundation of faith in God and each other brought them together again

What a lovely book. This chatty, breezy, and also sometimes tragic story is told separately by Gavin MacLeod and his wife, Patti. Gavin's half details his youth, early career, and later success in show business. He and Patti married, divorced, and then remarried after becoming born-again Christians. The book describes their experience but is not preachy.

I have read Gavin's autobiography, "This is Your Captain Speaking," and it was good, but this book is better. The pace is quicker and it feels more intimate. I think this book would be a perfect gift for any engaged couple. There is good advice and important discussion points. There are many photos. Highly recommended.

Great account of "Love Boat Captain"'s marriage being healed. Much needed these days with throwaway marriages. Highly recommend! Worth reading.

This is an older, out of print book that I thought a friend could use, as she is going through a heart-wrenching separation. When I got the book, I read through it, thinking it would cover more in-depth stories that I knew about during the MacLeod's divorce & how Patti literally "prayed" him back into her life. It instead talked up many "star-related" stories - which were good, but did not provide the stories that I wanted to hear. Gavin & Patti's top ten tips for a good marriage were good. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a behind the scenes story on their lives, and how to prevent growing apart. The bottom line was finding "Jesus" and how He pulled this marriage back in line.

Life Changing and encouraging to not give up on people, relationships and mainly the purpose for living a whole life through Christ.
This book begins with the testimonials of Gavin and Patti MacLeod as individuals. They both describe their childhoods as well as their point of view of their marriage to each other.
They review their marriage and why it did not work. It describes their divorce and how God brought them back together and created a new, beautiful marriage that they never thought was possible.
The book ends with ten steps to having a successful marriage. This book is very inspiring and is a definite must for anyone whose marriage is in trouble.
