Very good book to help me work through the 12 steps.

I have read many "recovery" books, and this one is up there as one for everyone. Hudson takes the well known "Big Book" of Alcoholics Anonymous, and puts a spiritual take on just living life as best one can along the lines of personal honesty, integrity, and humility. Great book to read on a few pages a day basis, and then keep with your life reference library.

For people looking for a thoroughly tested way to progress toward Jesus and his character, this book is a great resource to use with a like-minded friend as you work the 12 steps. The steps aren't about alcohol; they're about learning to live in humble and honest cooperation with God--day by day or moment by moment--for the good of everyone, particularly those right around you.

I used this book to work the steps with a friend (my friend used Keith Miller's A Hunger for Healing Workbook), and have been thoroughly helped. Neither of us struggled with alcohol or typical addiction issues, but both of us knew we weren't the people we wanted to be, particularly as people who want to trust and follow Jesus. Working through the steps with this book and my friend has been truly helpful. There were several occasions in which Hudson's recommendations for how to work a given step were invaluable, turning an otherwise vague step into a workable and effective plan of action.

The book, as something to merely read, isn't particulary impressive, even though Hudson's style is very personal and honest. But, like the 12 steps, it's not written to be merely read. It's written to help someone work the steps toward actual progress, and toward that end it's a really good book.

After ordering/returning a New Age CD (recommended by my psychologist), I discovered this book on my Kindle. It is an excellent 12 Step Study referring to Christian scripture and belief. A belief in the Tri-God: Father God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I highly recommend this book for AA and Alanon participants. Enjoy the blessings I have found in this reading!
