Arthur Walkington Pink (1886-1952) evangelist and Biblical scholar. In 1934 Pink returned to England, and within a few years turned his Christian service to writing books and pamphlets. Pink died in Stornoway, Scotland on July 15, 1952. Pink was born in Nottingham, England on April 1, 1886 and became a Christian in his early 20's. Though born to Christian parents, prior to conversion he migrated into a Theosophical society (an occult gnostic group popular in England during that time), and quickly rose in prominence within their ranks. His conversion came from his father's patient admonitions from Scripture. The cause of death was anemia.

Gleanings From Paul - A. W. Pink. 1. Prayer and Praise. 33. Paul’s Prayer for Philemon. Personally we know of no book devoted to the same, and except for a booklet on the two prayers of Ephesians 1 and 3 we have seen scarcely anything thereon. It is not easy to explain this omission, for one would think the apostolic prayers had such importance and value for us that they would attract the attention of those who wrote on devotional subjects.

This book is invaluable for a vertical God honoring prayer life. Each of Paul's prayers are listed and have a beautiful commentary showing the deep love of Paul for the Word of God. The writings of Paul, who was a Jew are commentary on the Old Testament which is the ONLY Scripture they had when he was writing his letters. He stand true to his Hebrew faith and shows us how to draw nearer to God, not with a 'gimme' list for a heavenly Santa Clause but with a true relationship with our Creator. Yes, Arthur Pink's writings have a Calvinistic bent but anyone can read this book and overlook them if they want. It will be a definite asset to one's prayer life. I haven't seen books written like this in quite a while. Today more are "'Howdy Dody', horizontal make you feel good'" book that produce weak believers. Every sincere believer should read this book with an open Bible and pen and note book.
Excellent explanation on Pauls writings in the New Teseament. Recommend this for bible study for those who want a through understanding of his writing.

Typical AW Pink - superb teaching
This is signature Pink. He is very quotable, but a little verbose. He has great powers of analysis, but sometimes his ideas are pretty "out there."

This book is chalk full of good stuff, but you may struggle to get through the times he goes on and on telling you that, while he could go on and on about a topic, he won't. Overall, it's worth the read. The author presents many ideas that are deep, while also maintaining an unmistakably devotional tone.

Pink is always worth the read!
Print goes too far into fold
A.W. Pink was a one of a kind preacher/teacher/writer. Almost ignored at the time of his death in 1951, his writings on the study of the scriptures are more timely now than ever before. His work on the prayers of the great Apostle Paul are absolutely priceless. This highly meditative book demonstrates great scholarship as well as piety. A must for the serious prayer warrior. This book will also shame lazy intercessors, only to further encourage and empower them. Here is a volume to treasure and refer back to in the years ahead.
