Труд The Gospel of John . and the Book of Acts–would each have filled an ordinary papyrus roll of 31 or 32 feet in length. The methodology of Hebrew and Aramaic Palestinian Jewish texts concerning historical figures diverges at significant points from that of Greco-Roman historical writing. Since the Palestinian Jewish roots of the Jesus movement affected Diaspora Christianity, a brief consideration of Jewish biographical conventions мая be useful in discussing the traditions behind the Gospels.

I love this Aramaic translation of the gospels and acts. I understand both Hebrew and Aramaic and this book gives you the concise sayings of Jesus in his native language Aramaic. Many of the things Jesus said are strange and hard to understand to westerners because Jesus is speaking a language that is full if idioms and metaphors, which are unfamiliar to the western mindset. 'Born again' for example is a mistranslation. It is supposed to say, 'Born from above' meaning taking on a spiritual nature to renew oneself. Jesus is a beautiful spiritual teacher whose method of teaching and performing miracles is deeply rooted in Jewish mysticism. Aramaic like Hebrew intimidates most people, but it shouldn't. I learned to read Hebrew and Aramaic one step at a time through careful and constant study. It is a language worth learning because you get a better understanding of the bible for your edification and the edification of others as well. This book is great for the bible scholar and casual student alike.

I like this book so much!

Although I don't read Syriac,Joseph Pashka's English translation is very simple yet much powerfull than NIV or NRSV.

I compared with UBS GNT,I think he used traditonal Syrian Orthodox Church's text.

Many years ago,I tried to buy Syriac version of the NT,but I

couldn't buy, because it is too expensive in UBS website

I want to say Thank you so much to the Author Joseph Pashka,

making wonderful translation! May Our Lord Bless you!

An original, reasonable translation. Grammatical typos detract, e.g. "it's" instead of "its."

Kind of dissapointed because I thought a phonetic pronunciation was included. This is what one review led me to believe. Hope to find this in the companion. otherwise very happy.

After all of these years, after all of the debate over appropriate translations I've listened to, I was quite relieved to find a translation of Jesus' own words, in his own language. I can come to no other conclusion for why its taken so long, other than it is has not so much been the need for a 'correct' translation, than it has been the egos in charge of our institutions ...and the power and control for their own everlasting voice. This edition of The Aramaic gospels, is to simple, and doesn't really communicate to the reader how Joseph Prashka is qualified to deliver the gospels and Acts in Aramaic. The book is not interlinear, and it does the reader little benefit to be able to see the script, unless they are learning Aramaic, or working on a really cool tattoo. I am frustrated over my search for a simple Aramaic translation, that is low cost and delivers what it should: English and even Greek, along side the Aramaic, pretty please. But dogma is to attractive, and uncalculable. Damn, means people will have to wander what exactly this Spirit stuff really is? What are the traditions of silence and the mystical traditions that our fundamentalism as got us into. Addiction to debt and oil. The Aramaic language is easily much more ecumenical than any clumsy fundamentalism could be. I am learning that the power of Christ's words to help carry the practice of God (spirituality) rather than the politics of God (religion) is essential to anyone who is used to hearing the words of Jesus. Just look at the Lord's Prayer in Aramaic. There is no reason, with a little more enthusiasm, this cool little edition, nonetheless, could not be that book that all of us 'high priests' are destined to carry with us.

A great book! I like how each Aramaic verse is followed by the English translation right under it. I'm back buying one for my friend.
I liked this book. It is not a book about Aramaic, it IS the Aramaic. It's very complete and a great resource for those interested in the original Gospels.
P.S. The price was also great.
