In this captivating, poetic story, a young boy and his mother come across a beautiful flowering tree during a walk through the countryside. The young boy decides to take some of the beauty home with them in the form of a seed. As the tree begins to grow, the boy discovers the miracle of creation. Years later when the tree finally blooms, it brings a wonderful surprise. Stunning illustrations bring the warmth of the Caribbean to life.
Beautiful story. I enjoyed reading it with my 6 year old and remembering our beautiful Puerto Rico. Great way to start understanding poetry and rhyme.
Beautiful book enjoyed by my kids time and time again!
"A young boy and his mother go for a walk in the country and are awed by the beauty of a yellow flamboyan tree. After enjoying its company and shade, the child takes one of its seeds with him and plants it. He cares for it over many years and in time the plant grows into a beautiful flowering tree. The watercolor and pastel illustrations support and extend the rhythmic text quite nicely. This uplifting story about the interconnectedness of people and nature makes an enjoyable choice for independent reading and an appealing read-aloud." This is one of ten books by this author that were chosen to be included in "The New Essential Guide to Spanish Reading" which is published by America Reads Spanish: a campaign aimed to increase the use and reading of the Spanish language through the thousands of libraries, schools and book stores in the US.
Hermoso libro.
I really enjoyed this book. The words are simple and the story is beautiful. It's about a boy and his love for a flamboyan, nature and his mom. It is native Puerto Rican vocabulary. Highly recommended.
