I cannot recommend ''Gammer Gurton's Needle'' too highly. David Lloyd was a circus performer whom she believed had the skill and humor to adapt the comedy for modern readers, and is now chairman of Walker Books. Charlotte Voake's illustrations are as beautiful and witty as her collaborator's text is amusing. I like the idea that children (or parents) may be inspired to look for ''gammer'' in the dictionary, but even if they aren't, they can hardly fail to be entertained. Charlotte Voake is an accomplished, award-winning illustrator, and native of Wales. Other books: The Sneeze, Tumult The Rabbit, Breakfast. Condition : Fine/very good.
