I have to agree with another reviewer that the poem seems to get lost in the back of the beautiful illustrations.

Should you buy this for a young reader, however, there are very few words in this book which makes it suitable for ages 4-7 (at best). With that said, the images are captivating and the illustrator depicts everyone's favorite Halloween creatures/icons marvelously within this book!

Honestly, the pictures are enough to buy this book alone. I recommend this if you want to buy this for a young child who is being introduced to reading-it is simply enchanting.

I learned this poem as a Halloween song long ago and it has always stayed with me over fifty years. Surprised to learn it is a much longer poem and the art is fantastic.

I bought this book for my 2 year old granddaughter who loves books. She goes back to this one over and over again. She and I both love the spooky illustrations and the simple story holds her attention.

We added this to our Halloween storybook collection this year, and I was a bit disappointed. The illustrations are captivating, but there is nothing special about the text. All ages in our family find this one rather boring.

My children love this book and it's creative illustrations. The story is just the right length and the book a nice size for reading to my son's Kindergarten class. Especially a hit with my four-year-old who loves Halloween!
