Lily Robbins has always been a model student, the one who always follows the rules. But suddenly, Lily is questioning the rules--both at home and at school - and it's getting harder to keep her mouth shut about it. When Lily blows up and goes off at her science teacher, she suddenly becomes Ms. Popularity. And soon Lily starts thinking that being a little bit 'bad' actually feels good. Of course, in true Lily fashion, she goes all the way with it, adopting an 'alternative' hair-do, and designing a rebel T-shirt that pushes the dress code.

Nancy Rue. Lily’s jaw dropped. The disappointed groans behind her were a sure sign nobody else believed it either. But Kathleen nodded and held out her hand. Come on up. What’s your name?. What’s your name? d as she stood up stiff as a pole. Lilianna Robbins, only everybody calls me Lily. All right, Lily, if you’ll just sit down in the chair here. She kept talking in her light-as-air way as Lily sank into the chair and once again tucked her hands under her thighs.

At last---Lily's in middle school and it doesn't take long for her to get right into the thick of things. She joins the school newspaper staff and becomes the anonymous writer of the 'Answer Girl' advice column. It's all in fun at first---Lily gives witty answers to such questions as 'What do I do about a dog that keeps eating my homework?' Then Lily gets a more serious query and actually gives helpful advice, and it's not long before word gets around that the mysterious 'Answer Girl' can solve ANY problem. Before long Lily thinks she's Dr. Know-it-all---reading every sidewalk psychology and self-help book she can lay hands on, and watching afternoon talk shows. But things quickly go sour when Lily steps outside her boundaries. After her 'expert' advice nearly costs her a close friend, Lily realizes there isn't always a clear-cut answer, particularly in those gray areas. But once again, Lily learns that God is the REAL answer giver.

Disappointed in the description for this book. Cover had markings on front, back and sides that could not be removed. Probably from a grease pencil to discount the book as used. Marred the cover of the book. Only one that did not match the description.

This book is a lot of fun to read. I like how Nancy Rue doesn't just write about skinny or pretty girls because not everyone is really like that. Lily is a normal girl who wants to find out what she's good at. When she gets recommended for the Middle School Mirror, (her school's newspaper) she thinks she'll become the next big reporter. Then she becomes "answer girl," the column becomes great and popular, but there's a catch. She can't tell anyone that she's the answer girl because they would tell the whole school. So, she find herself in a tangled up mess of lying to her friends and her parents and the popular girls who suddenly decide she's cool. When I first read it, I found it really suspenseful. But it's not just about Lily lying, it's about her figuring out what is important and why it's bad to lie. I've read this book about 3 times and I still love it just as much.
