However, it provides a good character study for the grim, brave Vikings,and it provides a fair smattering of Viking myths, stories, and jokes. All in all I found this enjoyable (though not as good as Viking's Dawn), but I'm a Viking fanatic.

Born in 1911 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire, he went to the local high school and then to Birmingham University where he studied English, History and Spanish. After he graduated he became a schoolteacher, and later served in the RAF Bomber Command during World War II. When the war was over, he returned to teaching and writing.
