A child who likes wearing hand-me-downs imagines in verse the history of these clothes.

We gave one of these to a family who had sent my granddaughter a box of hand me downs and the other to the granddaughter herself. Both are thrilled. It is a cute timeless story beautifully illustrated. I will definitely order several more as gifts.

This is an excellent book to read when talking about recycling. The little girl in this book has such a positive and fun attitude towards old clothes, you can't help but get excited about going to a thrift shop. She wonders about where they came from, who wore them, and where they might go next. It's an attitude most people would never take towards clothing and it's fun to read.

I love love love this book. You don't find many of this type. The little girl is relishing in the fact that she gets to have clothes that have been used before.

"Clothes with a history,
Clothes with a mystery,
Sweaters and shirts
that are brother-and-sistery."

Just the right message, with soft illustrations which--appropriately--incorporate little recycled, collaged bits of fabric textures and patterns, and notions.

Pair this with I Had a Favorite Dress, by Boni Ashburn and Julia Denos.

I read this to my students, many of whom have a lot of hand-me-downs. It helps them think of their cloths as special, rather than used. Delightful poetry by a wonderful poet.

I love this book. The illustrations are so cute!
As a church librarian I am selective about what books I place in the church library.

I so enjoyed the content of the book. It reminds me of my family growing up in the 1950's.

Thanks you,
mary
