My child was given this book at a birthday party, and has asked me to read it every day since. She is 5 and has always loved books, since we have read to her since she was a baby, but I have never known her to latch on to one book the way she has this one. This morning she said that she wants every day to be dog day. She loves joining in with all of the motions, and my husband and I have become quite adept at wagging our tails. I have no doubt that this book would be a big hit with groups of kids at playschool.

Parents will share my pleasure that the text is short and easy to read. This makes repeated readings easy. So, for both parents and children, this book is doggon fun!

Received this in a book exchange. The premise of the story is fine, but there is mention of the word "poo"... as in the dog food smells like poo and a couple references to lifting your leg. If you are ok with your kids bantering about the word "poo" in general conversation and pretending like they are urinating on trees, then its just the book for you. For me, its not something I want my kids to do at the family Christmas party... my kids are 3 and 4... maybe for an older child it would be better. For me, the book encourages the use of a word and action that I would never otherwise approve of out of context with the book and a child of this age has no appreciation for where it is appropriate.

This is a preschool book. It's about kids showing up for school and their new teacher is a dog. He barks, they bark. He sniffs, they sniff. He lifts his leg, they lift their legs. He digs a hole, they do. And they mention poo. We checked this out from the library because it had a cute dog on the cover. I see no value in this book whatsoever. Sometimes I am amazed what people will write and what a company will publish.

We checked this book out of the library and my son loved the book. We read it a lot and he requested it with giggles many times.

As others have mentioned this book goes through a day at school with Ben and Ellie (and their other classmates) being watched/taught by a dog named Riff. At the end of the book you see Ben and Ellie head for home - and they have dog tails!

My son requested his own dog tail. I made him on and now that he has it we will have to get the book again.

This book is not appropriate. It makes reference to "poo", the kids lift their legs to pee, and everyone (including the principal) wags their bottoms.

My nephew loved this book!! He especially enjoyed acting mimicking the dog!! It was super fun, for both of us.
