About The Illustrator.

Beautifully illustrated by Paul O. great story by Lore Segal. Poor Mrs. Lovewright can't catch a break. Cat-haters won't get it; cat-lovers totally will. Her cat just doesn't want to cuddle and purr and do all the things she's always dreamed of. As a dog person myself, I really loved this book.

Those self-wounding preconceptions of how love should be performed by the other are what novelist Lore Segal and beloved children’s book artist Paul O. Zelinsky explore in the 1985 gem The Story of Mrs. Lovewright and Purrless Her Cat (public library) - one of the most delightful children’s books I’ve ever encountered, told with warm wit and enormously expressive illustrations. Just as Mrs. Lovewright begins making up her mind that Purrless is a foul cat, she walks into the bedroom and discovers him curled and enormous, middle of the bed. Elated that she might at last have gotten the cozy-making companion she always wanted, she tries to get into bed.

The Apotheoses of Lacspor
This story is a bit on the odd side, the illustrations are quirky and it isn't the typical story about a cat but it is charming and slightly sophisticated so a shart 5 year old will get the joke and kids slightly older will probably enjoy this story also.

A fine gift for young children, and those who will read this story to them. I try to order multiple copies to minimize shipping charges.

Not for children, and pretty much of a downer for adults!
The two stars were for the illustrations - they were very good.

Very interesting
My agent suggested I read this for ideas for my own children's stories. No thank you. I found the story overly frustrating for small children. I thought the illustrations were unpleasant. Just not my style, I guess. Obviously there are many out there who like books like this one. I prefer softer and cuter.
