I love the Little Golden Books because they are the perfect length for bedtime so we can read a few of them and they have good stories and pictures. Blue Mountain Mystery is the story of Luke, a little green train and a big misunderstanding. Any Thomas book makes my toddler son smile, so I couldn't go wrong with purchasing Blue Mountain Mystery! He loves to be read to and this book is one of many Thomas & Friends books in our collection.

I really enjoy this neat old series of 42 books; the first 26 written by the Rev. W. Awdry, with the remaining 16 written by his son, Christopher (for whom the books were begun in the first place!) Our older grandson (almost 6 now) still enjoys his collections, but his younger brother (closing in on 2) is already showing strong interest - with another grandchild due in September, the Thomas collections have been a great investment for us.

Made-with-Love
My three-and-a-half year old son loves Thomas and Friends and he and his twin sister have been sitting through longer stories now that they are older and the bibliophile in me is loving it! We went on a road trip a few months ago and I wanted to buy some new books for him to help keep him occupied during the trip. I love the Little Golden Books because they are the perfect length for bedtime so we can read a few of them and they have good stories and pictures.

Blue Mountain Mystery is the story of Luke, a little green train and a big misunderstanding. Several of the engines talk about him and say he did something "very bad" so of course, Thomas wants to solve the mystery and help Luke. Once the mystery is solved, the engines realize they shouldn't gossip when they don't know the full story. Like all LGB, this book measures 6 1/2 inches by 8 inches, has a gold spine, hard covers, and paperback pages. This story is 24 pages long, has beautiful pictures and at least a few sentences on each page. This story generally takes us about five to ten minutes to read, depending on how much we look at the pictures and talk about the story.

As I mentioned, my son loves Thomas but this story hasn't held his interest too much, compared to some of the other Thomas stories we have. One of the things I noticed in this story is the many usages of Luke being and doing something "very bad." This gives me a slightly negative view of this book but, after the mystery is solved, everything is happy again on the Island of Sodor. Thomas's character is also really good at teaching others how to be a friend and I really like that about this and all of the Thomas books.

Overall, we like this story but we don't read it too much. Despite the slightly negative feeling this book has initially, it ends on a good note. It doesn't bother me so much that Luke is "very bad" but some people may prefer to wait until their kids are older to introduce that concept. I'd still recommend this book if your Thomas fan loves to read and look at books.

Our 4 year old loves this book. He has been watching the episodes on Netflix and we are trying to move away from too much TV, so I started to buy these books. Since he has already seen the episodes, it was easy for him to picture the story in his mind. In a few days he had it all memorized and can say the story all by himself.

I think these set of books are a good addition to the episodes on Netflix. That way the kids get an option to either read them or watch them as needed. However, I should have read better, that these are small size books. I bought a Thomas story book abroad in one book shop and it was a full size book. I was under the impression that this will be the same size and quality, but not quite so. But still in the end these are Thomas stories and in any shape or form they are a hit in our house!

I love this story with the little engine Luke - and my son does too! This is a cute short edition of it, thought at the end they skip over some parts and the language doesn't make sense unless you have seen the movie. I am finding this is a very common little golden books issue, but for a toddler they don't really notice - Mom and Dad do though!

This was definitely not appropriate for my 2-3 year old son. He is now 3, and it is just becoming 'okay' to read. But with themes like 'shaming someone for gossip' and 'making up stories', I think it is lost early on. My trouble was that the 'gossip' revolved around pushing, and things not quite being what they seem, and it isn't until later in the book that it was revealed to not be true. Feeling okay with it in the 3-4 yr old age now.

Great gift!

You can never go wrong with Thomas & Friends. I still love buying the little golden books in all categories. The story is short enough that you can always read the whole story without losing their attention especially when the book is good. This is another good one for your child or grandchild.

Another birthday gift for my great-grandson who also likes Thomas the Train and he is only 2 yrs old.
