Heller says of her work, "All my books are nonfiction picture books in rhyme. I find writing in rhyme enjoyable and challenging, and I think it is an easy way for children to learn new facts and acquire a sophisticated vocabulary. Children are not intimidated by big words. This is another quality coloring book from Ruth Heller. I have purchased several of her other coloring books (Birds, Butterflies, Tropical Fish, Geometrics) and they are all really great. This coloring book features "optical art", which I can best describe as sort of "zig-zag" designs that, if you stare at them, appear to move a bit. They are very interesting designs.

Coloring books for adults have existed for over 30 years. I have had several different ones over the years, including this one. This is a great book. Ruth Heller is an outstanding coloring book artist.

This book contains 30 designs, all of which contain tropical fish. Some designs contain more close-up images of fish to color, while some are further away. Some are more detailed than others. There are a lot of varieties of fish to color here, and a lot of opportunities to use many different colors. Some of the designs are intricate while others are more simple to color. There is something for everyone in this book.

The paper the designs are printed on is a bit heavier and is not textured. The pages are not perforated, so it will not be easy to remove the pages from the book should you need to. Some of the designs extend pretty close to the edge, adding to the possible difficulty of removing the pages. The best thing about this coloring book is that the designs are not printed on both sides of the pages, so you can use markers and pens without worrying about ruining a design on the other side of the page.

I highly recommend this book. It is great for people of all ages, although probably too complicated for younger kids. The price is right too - the publisher's price for this book was $5.99, which is a great value.

This book has lots of different optical designs, with some of them being smaller, more intricate designs, while other designs have spaces to color that are a bit bigger. Either way, the designs are interesting and fun. There is a lot of opportunity here to experiment with color and shading.

The 30 designs in this book are not printed on both sides of the pages, so you can color with markers and pens without worrying about the ink bleeding through onto the design on the other side of the page. The designs do not extend to the edge of the binding in the middle of the book (the binding is glued, not stapled or sewn, by the way), and the pages are not perforated, so you will be able to remove the pages without ruining the design, but will have to be a bit careful when removing them due to the pages not being perforated.

Overall this is a great coloring book for kids that are a little older, as well as adults.

I have several of Ruth Heller's coloring books and all of her artwork is beautiful. These butterfly designs are equally as beautiful as the other designs she has created. This book contains 31 butterfly designs, all of which have multiple butterflies on the same page, with some of the designs also containing various flowers to color as well.

The paper these designs are printed on is a bit heavier and has no texture. The pages are not perforated, so you will have to tear the pages out of the book if you want to remove the designs from the book. A lot of the designs extend pretty close to the center binding (the binding is glued, by the way), so the designs may get ruined if you tear them out. The designs are not printed on both sides of the page, so you can color in this book with markers, pens, paints, etc. and not worry about the ink or paint bleeding through to the design on the other side of the page.

The designs in this book are somewhat intricate and I don't think that a younger child would enjoy this book much for this reason, but children ages 8 or 9 and up would probably like to color in this book. I feel it is more for adults, though.

This Ruth Heller coloring book is as good as many of her other coloring books and I highly recommend it.

Long before the current adult coloring book craze came onto the scene, there were adult coloring books that weren't quite as intricate and detailed as the ones that have accompanied the current craze. One of the coloring books that were offered by Ruth Heller, a very talented artist, was this "Birds" coloring book.

This book contains 30 bird designs. There are many different types of birds to color, with some designs being more detailed and intricate, while others would be easier and faster to color due to not being as detailed and intricate. The designs are not printed on both sides of the pages, so you can use markers, pens, etc. without worrying about the ink bleeding through the paper. The paper these designs are printed on is somewhat thick and has no texture. The pages are not perforated, so it wouldn't be super easy to remove the pages should you want to. Some of the designs extend pretty close to the center binding of the book, making it possibly even more difficult to remove the pages.

The recommended age for this coloring book is 6 to 9 years old, but I think 9+ is more accurate due to a lot of the detail.

I have had this coloring book for almost 9 years and still enjoy it. I bought this book, of course, long before the current adult coloring book craze came onto the scene. Detailed, intricate coloring books are something I have enjoyed for more than 30 years.

This coloring book contains 31 different geometric designs in a slim book with a glued binding. The paper these designs are printed on is a bit heavier and has no texture. The designs are not printed on both sides of the page, so you will be able to color with markers, pens and other mediums without worrying about the ink bleeding through to the design on the other side. It won't be easy to remove these pages from the book because the pages aren't perforated, and most of the designs extend fairly close to the center binding of the book, so you would have to tear the pages out very carefully.

Some of the designs are more intricate and detailed than others, and there are designs in this book for everyone. Older kids may like these designs too, as they are intricate and some are downright fun to color.
