Her friends teased her and called her Anal Annie when she went through her little rituals. She arranged her CDs alphabetically, stacked her pennies so that Lincoln’s profile faced the same way, and made her bed even as she was crawling out of it. She actually folded her soiled laundry, rather than just tossing it in the hamper.

Ann Rule is was and will forever be the Queen of True Crime. She brought Anne Marie Fahey to life with her words. Thomas Capano is the protagonist and he is known as 'The Deadly Seducer' for good reason; he was a serial womaniser and control freak. I felt like I knew her, which made it all the more heartbreaking when I had to read about how meticulously Tom Capano planned her murder.

Thomas Capano was a powerful man in Delaware. I am a burned-out former paralegal from Wilmington, Delaware. I knew Thomas Capano and Anne Marie Fahey. Even though Ms. Rule is not a local reporter, her understanding of Wilmington's unique political and social climate is much deeper and more nuanced than any of the other authors'.

The shattering crime story that shocked the nation: the Thomas Capano murder case On a June evening in 1996, 30-year-old Anne Marie Fahey, secretary to the governor of Delaware, vanished without a trace following a restaurant rendezvous with her secret lover of more than two years: Thomas Capano. One of Wilmington's most prominent and respected figures, a millionaire attorney and former state prosecutor, "Tommy" was a charming, softspoken family man. But in the weeks and months that followed Fahey's disappearance, investigators would gradually uncover the shocking truth: Capano was a steely manipulator driven by power and greed -- and capable of brutal murder. In a riveting narrative expertly documented by probing interviews, diary entries, and e-mail correspondence, and with superb insight into the twisted motivations of a killer, Ann Rule chronicles a real-life drama of Shakespearian proportions: ambitions fall, love turns to obsession, family names are tainted, the façade of success crumbles -- and a beautiful but vulnerable young woman pays the ultimate price in a convoluted and deadly relationship.

Thank God for Ann Rule...good writing. I remember this crime and I remember feeling so upset at the loss of this young woman and in such wonder as to the character of Tom Capano. Why was the word that hung over my thoughts every time I saw this crime shown on 48 Hours or Dateline or American Justice. I wanted to know what made Tom Capano click, what pushed him over the edge, what was the root of his problems? Ann Rule wrote a lot of behind the scene bio on him that answered a lot of questions but then some new questions arose out of it as well.
The writer takes you to the relationship between Ann Marie and Tom, gives you understanding of his control over her, her fear of him, her desire to move on and escape his control, his manipulation and lying, not to mention his out and out lust for every skirt he could find. The writer shows you how Tom Capano had no soul, how he threw everyone under the bus just to save his own neck. Great writing by Ann Rule, great writing.

Amazing! I could not put this book down. Ann Rule perfectly captures Thomas Capano, a charming, self-pitying, guilt-inducing, manipulative sociopath. She does so by not only dissecting his words and actions, but by placing him in a web of relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and lovers that slowly unveils his malevolent character. Capano had an uncanny knack for zeroing in on people's weak spots; but, in the end, like many sociopaths, he was careless, too arrogant and demanding to get away with his worst crime: the murder of a beautiful young woman who was gradually learning to stand up for herself and say "no" to a man who always expected an obedient "yes."

I have read other accounts of this sad story and since I have been a fan of Ann Rule this was the first book I purchased when I got my Kindle for Christmas.

Anne Marie was so beautiful and full of life and Capano-pure evil. How he killed her, disposed of her and then tried to pin it on his long time lover who he also controlled sickened me. The thing about Annie was she saw him for what he was (in time) she was trying to get him out of her life but it was her kindness and compassion for the well being of others that put her int that horrible place that night -it must have been pure evil against pure goodness and I hate to say that evil won that night. We will never ever know what really happen but am prettty sure it wasn't the versions handed to the public by Capano and Co. (his attorneys).

Surprisingly I googled Tom Capano after finishing the book to see if he had been executed or if a date was set and found he died in prision of natural causes.

I finished the book and thought about Annie-I have no doubt she would have married the wonderful man she was dating while trying to break out of the grip of TC. She had such a tough childhood it made me sad to see how her life ended when she had so very much going for her.

This is about the 4th Ann Rule book I have read & will continue to read her books.

Ann Rule may be from the Northwest but she nailed this infamous DE murder that took place in the 1990s. Coming from that area, and having read the others books on this topic, I was impressed with her access to witnesses, law enforcement, families involved, etc. Just a great informative book, equal to the other best on this murder (Summer Wind by George Anastasia). Definite worthwhile.

I have read several of Ann Rule's books and this is probably the best one. This is an incredible and almost unbelievable story about a murderer who is one of the worst human beings one can imagine. The book is an excellent profile of the characters that leads up to one of the most interesting murder trials ever. It is a Itlong read, but one that is fascinating and hard to put down even though one knows the ending based on news accounts of this high profile case. A great book to say the least.

Young, beautiful, and on her way up in the world, Anne Marie Fahey was looking forward to a life of love, success, and giving her children the stability she always craved as a child.

Tom Capano was a moderately successful lawyer from a rich family. He had a beautiful wife, living daughters, and a mistress who would do anything for him.

Yet he HAD to have Anne Marie.

For three years, he and Anne had a turbulent, on-and-off-again affair. He tried to dominate every aspect of her life, and she allowed him because she thought it was showing how much he loved her.

Once she started getting her life together, Anne started pulling away from Tom, realizing he was just trying to control her.

Ann Rule has once again written a compelling story of human pathos and wanting. In "And Never Let Her Go," she tells the sad story of a young woman who never really had a chance. After a childhood starved of affection and stumbling through her adulthood, Anne Marie had finally found happiness with her boyfriend and in her professional life. That is until Tom Capano, a man who swore he loved her, decided that, if he couldn't have her, no one could.

Through personal histories and documentation of the trial, Ann Rule takes you into a hurricane of pathos.

This is a great read for mystery and true crime fans alike.

In only my second reading of an Ann Rule book I've made the decision to read anything or all she's has produced. I can't pinpoint what makes her writing so enjoyable and I'm not literary educated, but I realize very early on in her books that it is a true challenge to put the book down. What a fantastic true story this one was.
