OTELLO BUSCHERINI - THE PILOT

Otello Buscherini was born in Forlì on the. Of January 1949
His first race took place in Riccione the 2 nd. of March 1966, on his 60 cc. Moto and he arrived second behind Ronci who was racing on his moto Benelli Sport.
Then on the race Verica-Pavullo he arrived, again, second on his 75 cc. moto behind Ribuffo.
He won the race in Monza with his Minarelli proving to be successful in the race and afterwards he was first again at Camerino.
The year 1967 proved be a season full of satisfactions for Buscherini, during which not only he achieved seven victories and several good positions (placee), but he also rode two of the world's fastest quarter miles of a lap, in the class 50 and 175 cc.
In the years 1968 and 1969 he raced on a Malanca moto with which not only he obtained some good positions but he also gained two Italian championships titles, one in the year 1968 during the juniores race, the other, the year after in the mountains' race.
In the year 1969 racing for the Lux racing-team he began to test (prove) himself in the foreign tracks obtaining pleasant successful positions.
At Nurburing, in the year 1970, during the World Championship Trials he gained the sixt place in
The 50 cc., racing on a Honda, and the year after (1971), in the Spanish Grand Prix, at Jarama, he arrived again sixt in the 1 2 5 race on a Derby .
The same year ha raced on a Malanca, and at Misano with the Morbidelli 1 2 5, but arrived second in Pesaro behind the (great) Nieto.
Owing it (thanks) to his racing talent Otello could ride with no difference either the small 50 cc. moto on the maximoto 750 cc.
In the year 197 3 he raced the ‘1000' miles at Imola together with Bonera and he gained the second place on a Triumph 750 cc.
The 197 3 was a magic year for Otello:
He won the Italian Senior championship title of the 50 cc. and he also won two (iridati) Grand Prix one took place in Finland and the other in Czechoslovakia , on his 1 2 5 cc. moto.
In this same class, he was the Italian Champion Senior in 1974 riding again is faithful Malanca with the “mythic” number 1 2 .
In the year 1976 he won the Czechoslovakia Grand Prix of the 3 50 cc. riding a Yamaha, and the following year he won in Modena the 3 50 cc. race of the Italian Championship Senior.
He was again a winner at the Imola moto racings in the 2 50 and 3 50 cc. and (while) at Mugello's track he rode the fastest lap of the race, he was there disputing (competing) his last race in the
1 2 5 cc.
Unfortunately, soon after, while he was racing in the 2 50 cc., destiny was fatal to him.
It was the 16 th of May, 1976.
Otello Buscherini entered into the moto racing legend.
